Dynamic
Equipment
comprises a single axle weigher linked to a console.
Vehicles are usually weighed whilst in motion but can
also be weighed whilst stationary.
Single
Plate
A
single weighing plate is connected to an indicating
mechanism, vehicles are weighed whilst stationary.
Multi
Plate
Comprises
of two or more independent static weighing plates connected
to a single console. Vehicle are weighed whilst stationary.
Portable
Weighpads
Portable
Weighpads give the examiner the opportunity to weigh
vehicles at locations not normally subjected to weight
checks. They are easily transported and can be operated
at any designated weighsite.
Code
of Practice
There
is a code of practice for each type of equipment used
by examiners. Drivers will be given specific instructions.
Vehicle
Overload
If
weight recorded is above permitted limit driver or any
other person who uses, causes or permits the use of
a vehicle, which may include consignor, may be liable
for prosecution.
Overload
Prohibition Notices
These
are issued by the examiner if the vehicle is overloaded,
which may contain particular conditions, issued to driver
with immediate effect. A copy of a prohibition notice
will be sent to the owner of the vehicle. In the case
of 'O' Licensed vehicles the Traffic Commissioner will
be notified.
Redirection
Notice
The
may be issued under the discretion of the Traffic Examiner.
A nearby facility to offload excess or redistribute
the load.
